What you need to know about lemon laws

Lemon laws themselves are a group of consumer protection statutes that provide you with certain rights if you have purchased or leased a defective automobile or other motor vehicle covered by a manufacturer's warranty. The state statute covers vehicles sold, transferred or leased, in the state, and used primarily for personal, family or household purposes. The statute excludes off-road vehicles, mopeds, trucks over 10,000 pounds, motorcycles and the living facilities of recreational vehicles. To qualify, your vehicle must have had three repair attempts or been out of service for 30 calendar days. The manufacturer can remedy your situation by the following:

Replace with vehicle acceptable to the consumer. The consumer has the right to choose a refund rather than a replacement vehicle
Accept the return of the vehicle and refund full purchase price plus all collateral and incidental charges less a reasonable allowance for consumer's use.
